“We’re many different types of people and we all have to work together to keep the system running. We’re based on a system of helping each other out.”

– John, Service Technician

Education and
Empowerment

We're committed to promoting higher education with resources rooted in our customers' communities. We maintain the annual World Class Scholarship Program for the public as well as the annual September 11th Memorial Scholarship fund for 50 children of our employees and the Mediacom Entrepreneur of Tomorrow Award. We're proud to promote minority interests in media in partnership with the Emma Bowen Foundation. Thanks to our Video-on-Demand system, we're able to offer our Iowa digital service subscribers GED coursework and materials, including test preparation. And our outstanding nternship Program affords local students the opportunity to gain practical experience in a professional and motivating environment.

Fostering Philanthropy

At Mediacom, you'll find a rich history of philanthropic giving in the spirit of community partnership. Our ongoing, company-wide Food Drives and American Red Cross Blood Drives contribute life-saving supplies to critical relief efforts. We're proud to participate in Lee Denim Day with a company-wide contribution, placing Mediacom within the Top 25 donors every year since 2009. Through our corporate "Adopt a Unit" drive, we've provided soldiers in Afghanistan much-needed supplies and holiday cheer.

Local Focus

Mediacom is thrilled to provide airtime for the people and communities that continue to support our service. MC22, our exclusively local channel, provides a space for in-state production teams to develop programming focused on the voices of our communities. We offer complimentary programming for local sports, including the Hawkeye Network, the Cyclone Network, and the MC22 Student Athlete Spotlight. And our "Say Yes to the Dress" program brings high school girls together with area stylists to receive new dresses and makeovers, develop mentoring relationships, and build their self-confidence.

Community Response

It's our mandate not just to provide services for our communities, but also to step up and act when natural disasters strike. After Iowa's severe storms in 2008, we joined forces with the University of Iowa and the Big Ten Network to design a response plan. Together, we raised over $200,000 for local flood relief.
