We're in This Together, Apart

In times of crisis we band together to help each other out. In the face of social distancing we’ve put together a curated list of things to check out and do online, so you don’t have to go looking.

Zoo Streams

A lot of our zoos are doing amazing live stream work. The Cincinnati Zoo is closed to the public, but every day at 3PM they are highlighting one of their animals and providing an activity for your kids to do at home! Can’t make 3PM? They post the stream to their YouTube shortly after it ends! Click here to check it out.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium has 10 live streaming cams! You and your kids can watch their penguins, reef populations, sharks, and even adorable sea otters, chilling at the aquarium.  Feeling a need for some chill? Tune into the Moon Jelly Cam and enjoy the view.

Virtual National Park Tours

A lot of our beautiful  national parks have online tours that you can take. Did you know that Denali National Park is bigger than the ENTIRE state of New Hampshire? Google Earth has a virtual tour, so you can check out the wilds of the park, home of Mount McKinley, a lot of grizzly bears, and some truly astounding sights.

Or get really crazy, and click I’m Feeling Lucky, and see where Google Earth takes you! You could find yourself on a hiking trail in Colorado, a piazza in Italy, or exploring parts of the Outback!

Reading Books with Awesome People

Josh Gad, best known for being Olaf in Frozen and Frozen 2, is reading for kids in the evenings live on his Twitter. There are a few readings already there, including If I Ran the Circus by Dr Suess, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, Olivia Goes to Venice, and the Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Duwalt. I mean who doesn’t want someone to read them a bedtime story, sometimes?

Let real-life Astronauts read your kids some of the best STEM books there are on offer. Titles include Max Goes to Mars, Rosie Revere Engineer, Ada Lace Take Me to Your Leader and Astronaut Annie. The videos are all curated here, but also posted on YouTube.

Dreaming of Elsewhere…

Whether you’re dreaming of being elsewhere on a beach, some choice fishing spot or just not being in your house .. here’s a few little escapes.

Corolla Light Beach Resort, NC

Check this web cam out. The shore is beautiful, the waves are as steady as the moon, and you might even peep some wild horses if you get lucky; the beaches in Corolla are known for them!

Hanalei Bay Resort

This cam is pointed at a piece of heaven on the Hawaiian Island of Kaua’i. Not at bad place to mentally vacation when you’re stuck at home.
