Top 3 Starz Hits Not to Miss
Outlander
6 seasons, 67 episodes and counting
What about Outlander is not to be loved? It is a beautiful piece of incredibly romantic historical fantasy, set to the backdrop of the end of the conflict between England and Scotland over the freedom and way of life of the Highlanders, all the way to the settling of Early America. The romance is poignant and powerful, and the stakes are almost always high. The series stars Caitriona Balfe (Ford v. Ferrari) and Sam Heughan (Bloodshot) as Claire Beauchamp and James Mackenzie Fraser. Balfe plays a combat nurse fresh out of WWII that is transported back in time to Scotland in the 1740’s. Heughan plays the roguish and handsome outlaw from British justice, drawn to the firecracker woman that’s just a little too smart and too bold to be safe.
Power Series
10 seasons, 99 episodes
With three spinoffs and counting, the Power series has been one of Starz’s biggest success stories. It’s very buzzy, and despite a perhaps less enticing first season outing, the series has become a ratings powerhouse. It all began in 2014 with the premiere of Power, a crime drama about a man living a double life, a family man and nightclub owner, and drug kingpin. When he decides he wants out of the narcotics business, he is immediately pitted against his own partner in crime who is less than pleased about this turn of events. It stars Omari Hardwick and is executive produced by Curtis Jackson (50 Cent). The series has also spawned three spinoffs including Power Book II: Ghost, Book III: Raising Kanan and Book IV: Force.
Heels
1 season, 8 episodes
Wrestling fans this show is for you! Starz’ drama series Heels is about two brothers competing for national attention in Georgia in a wrestling competition. The first season stars Stephen Amell of Arrow fame and Alexander Ludwig (Vikings), as a pair of brothers each cast in a different light, one a hero, and one the villain (or Heel, thus the title). The drama builds to a head when a family-owned wrestling promotion pits the brothers against each other. The series was a huge hit for Starz, garnering a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and it has been renewed for a second season.

Black Sails
4 seasons , 38 episodes
Black Sails is a prequel to Treasure Island, stuffed full of rum, swashbuckling pirates, and all the usual trappings of the genre. One of the few shows that only improved as it went along, Black Sails stars Toby Stephens (Lost in Space), Hannah New (Edge of the World) and Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy). If you’ve ever wondered what happened twenty years before Treasure Island… now you can find out.
American Gods
1 seasons, 8 episodes
Go on a journey with Shadow Moon, an ex-convict who meets Mr. Wednesday, a strange and intriguing figure, and becomes embroiled in the battle for power and belief between the old gods, and the new. Based on the novel by Neil Gaiman, explore a world full of powerful figures brought to North America by the beliefs of those who came to these shores, figures as powerful as Odin and his thirst for war to Mad Sweeney’s leprechaun luck, as they try and scrape up enough belief as the new gods of Media, Celebrity, and Technology rise.
The Missing
2 seasons, 16 episodes
The Missing ran for two seasons, telling two separate stories about children gone missing. Season 1 focuses on the disappearance of a young child named Oliver while on vacation in France. Years later the father played by James Nesbitt returns to France to revisit the case, determined to find some trace or clue that can help him discover what happened to his son. The Missing is a story about a missing boy, but also the fall out of such a tragedy and the toll it takes on those that remain. Excellently acted, and gripping, The Missing is absolutely worth a watch.
