A voice mailbox is typically associated with a telephone number. When the number is called, and the line is busy or not answered, the caller hears an outgoing Greeting recorded by you and is given instructions for leaving a message. If you have a message waiting for you, when you pick up your phone there will be a stuttered dial tone, and if your phone supports it, there may be a visual indicator such as a flashing light to indicate a message. This feature functions very similarly to an answering machine, but with no additional equipment required in your home. There is, however, a monthly charge for the Voice Mail service.
