FCC Says Mediacom Excels With Broadband Service
Customers Receive Top Speeds as Promised
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a national report on the ability of major Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to deliver the broadband speeds they promise to consumers, and Mediacom was ranked as one of the country's top providers to routinely meet or exceed advertised speeds. According to the analysis, Mediacom Online customers receive 101% of the company's advertised speed for Internet downloads and 120% on upload speed. The upload speed results being tops amongst all 14 ISPs (Internet Service Providers) measured by the study.
The data was compiled to measure sustained download and upload speeds as a percentage of advertised speed. According to the FCC report, ISPs are now delivering, on average, 96 percent of advertised Internet speeds during the peak hours of 7:00 to 11:00 pm (ET) and Mediacom was shown to be one of five companies to routinely meet or exceed their advertised speeds.

Comparatively, the study showed that telephone companies who offer DSL service in the same markets as Mediacom deliver their advertised speeds between 78 and 85 percent of the time.

"Consumers have been concerned about actual versus advertised speeds, and we're pleased that this rigorous analysis confirms that Mediacom delivers on the promise to deliver always faster Internet," said Ed Pardini, senior vice president for Mediacom. "The real story is that our Mediacom employees are always working behind the scenes to ensure that customers get what they pay for."

"The FCC report shows that consumers want more speed to keep pace with the way they and their families use the Internet today," Pardini said. "More customers than ever before are upgrading to Mediacom's higher speeds of 20- and 50 Mbps. With the objective results of this data, our customers can be confident of the reliability that comes with Mediacom's promise to deliver the fastest speeds." The FCC's report is titled, "A Report on Consumer Wireline Broadband Performance in the U.S. The analysis and its comparative data charts can be viewed online at http://www.fcc.gov/measuring-broadband-america/2012/july.
