NBC Olympic channels
« on: July 16, 2012, 05:58:16 PM »
Hello, browsing the channel listings the other day on my TV I noticed 3 new channels: NBC Olympic Basketball HD, Soccer HD and 3D. Just curious if these are apart of a specific package that I would need to purchase or are they already included? Really cool of you guys to add these.

I would be happy to check into this for you.  What channels are you showing this on?

They come up as 797, 798 and 799 respectively. The listings show as "off air" right now.

When I pull this up at the headend, I show MAXHD on 797 and PPV on 799.  Are you still located in the Moline, IL area?

I wondered about this too as my Tivo had those same channels added over the weekend.  We also have PPV on 799.
This is in Eureka, IL.

I will check with the marketing department to see what is planned for those channels.  Just to be sure, what is the label on each channel, and what is currently showing on those channels?

797-NBCBSK
798-NBCSOC
799-NBCOL3D

There is nothing on any of these channels at this time.  The channel guide shows 'SIGN OFF' similar to a OTA station signing off for the night.

I was able to find out some more information.  Once the Olympics start on 07/27 those channels will go live in certain areas for  Family Cable subscribers with HD equipment.  The 3D channel may not start until 07/28 as there is a 1 day delay for the 3D content.  The content on the Soccer and Basketball channels will be shown twice in 12 hour cycles.

I've since renamed the channels to a more descriptive one (like DISCHD to Discovery HD) but I think eur22's are correct.

I checked my listings again just now and I now see 797 as both the basketball and CineMAX HD channel (two listings for the same channel) and the same deal for 799.

I am not sure how it is going to work with those channels still having content, however I do show the Moline area as one of the area where we will be airing those three additional channels for the duration of the Olympics.

In addition we expect to have 200+ hours of On Demand content during the events.

Good news. Thanks again for adding this to the lineup. It's nice to see new channels.

Will these channels be available using a TV with a built-in digital tuner or is a digital adapter required?

These will only be available in the HD Family Tier which requires a cable box of cablecard ready device.

My listings still show 797 as both the basketball and CineMAX HD channel (two listings for the same channel) and the same deal for 799. Nothing at all for 798. Real shame... was hoping to try out the 3D channel.

Those channels should be coming in your area. I sent a reinitializing signal to your cablecard to make sure it has the latest channel info. Let us know if that helps.

Thanks,
Dallas

Still nothing on all three channels. I think the problem is that there's already a channel for 797 and 799 and WMC is confused and tuning to the movie channels (or at least attempting to since I don't subscribe to them). But absolutely nothing on 798.

I sent another initialization signal to your cablecard. Let me know if you see any change.
