"DVR SERVICE UNAVAILABLE"

My DVR is saying " DVR service is unavailable or is currently disabled. Please call your cable operator" Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

Sometimes there is a cable that comes loose in the back. I've heard multiple technicians complain about the quality of the DVR and how this an issue, but nothing seems to be done to fix it.
