My internet modem is cycling on and off frequently, like every minute or so. I have unplugged the modem and done a restart.

I saw two bucket trucks working on the boxes on the poles in my neighborhood earlier today. Is there something out?

My cable works fine.

I see a signal issue that is most likely causing your problems. Is there a splitter on the cable line between the modem and the wall?

I have a dedicated line for the modem so there is no splitter, but it runs through my APC Backup. But why would this suddenly happen when it's been working for a long time connected this way.?

Could it have been something the techs did when working on the lines today? Also, my cable is working.

The cable line itself runs through the APC Backup? It is possible that something happened when they were working on the lines; however I am just trying to narrow things down. Because they use different signals it is possible for the internet to have issues and the cable will not be affected.

Right after I replied, I disconnected the cable from the APC and ran it directly to the modem.

Still having same problem.

As you can imagine, this is extremely frustrating. I think I have eliminated everything on this end, except for maybe the modem going bad, but that doesn't happen often, does it?

The modems do not go bad often, however it does happen. I am showing a connection instability over the past week. I would recommend that we schedule a technician to come out and take a look at the problem.

Someone must have done something to something because the problem seems to have been resolved.

Around 9:45 last night I noticed that the modem hadn't gone off for a while, so I watched it and it stayed on until I went to sleep at 11:30, and it is still working fine this morning.

Can you check and see if I am still showing a connection instability?

Do you know of any repair that was made to fix this?

Since it is working do I still require a technician to come out and check things?

It appears that this was a bit more widespread. I see that they had rolled maintenance out to perform the fix as a result. Things appear to be up and running and stable at this. I don't think we'll need to have the technician out. I cancel that for you, if you'd like.

The modem went off and on as I received your reply.

I waited a few minutes before sending this to see if it stays on, but it just went off and on again.

And again.

Are they still working on this?

Does the fact that the entire cable system went off for 1/2 hour have anything to do with this problem?
