Umm, I don't know.  I use secure connect for my vpn.  Again, it is not my vpn or voip.  It is my internet.  Read all the posts before this.  I have been having issues with my mediacom service for awhile.  This is not new.  I am sick and tired of dealing with this.  I think it may be fixed and then something else goes wrong.  I have had so many techs here in the past 6 months, it is not even funny.

The tech let the supervisor know he found some bad connections that should clear up your problems. How has the service been since he was out?

Better but still not great.  My voip works maybe 80% of the time (which is better than it has been).  I honestly don't think mediacom will ever get it completely fixed.  We will probably start looking for other options.

They won't find anything and I honestly don't have time for them to come again.  I've taken too much time off work.  When it gets to a barely usable state again, I will let you know.

Well, it didn't take long for this to go completely south again.  I had my employer check the vpn and it is running fine.  They monitored my connection all morning and this is what they had to say.

"Iíve monitored her connection, and her latency is bouncing from low to very high.  The range is as low as 28ms and as high as 1539ms, and is going up and down frequently.  She reported poor performance while using softphone and video conferencing.  Latency at those levels will severely degrade the performance of these services."

While on the personal laptop today (not connected to vpn), I've noticed issues with very slow speeds for a minute and then it kicks back in and works fine.  This is happening continuously and I'm assuming is because of the issue above.

I don't mean to yell but, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING AND WHY CAN'T YOU FIX IT???

We are still working with the area management to find a solution to this issue.

I do not have an exact time for you right now, but we are not ignoring the issue.  Unfortunately we are not always able to fix the problem as quickly as we would like, but we do not stop working on it until the issue has been resolved.

So is the problem just my internet or the area?

It does not appear to be an area issue.

So how is this being worked on now?  Honestly, when a tech shows up they usually have no idea why they are at my house which certainly does not seem like there is any work going on behind the scenes.  I'm sorry to be so snarky with you but just look at how long this post has been going on.  Obviously, there is something very wrong and no tech has been able to figure it out so far.  I guess I'll just keep waiting.....

Which is why we have this escalated to the area management, so that they can assist in finding out why these issues keep coming back.

I have been informed that there was a bad 3 way splitter that has been replaced, and did improve the signal levels.  Can you check for me to see if there is any improvement in the service?

I did not use my work voip after they fixed it and will not be working from home M-W this week.  Once I am back, I will monitor how it works Thursday and Friday and I will let you know.

That sounds good.  I'll update your ticket and we'll look to follow up with you on one of those days.

I've worked at home today, and last Thursday and Friday since the tech came out over a week ago.  My phone still lags a lot and cuts out quite frequently for a few seconds.  It really has not gotten any better.   A local manager left me a message last week when I was traveling and I lost his number so I can not call him back. THe tech that was here told me that he was putting a voice session on my phone so I would be interested to see what that says.

Also, currently tonight our internet is really acting up.  It is timing out every few minutes.  I am doing a command prompt ping test on random internet sites and it is timing out about 50% of the time.
