Slow Speeds

I'm in Apache Junction, Arizona. Yesterday I did a speed test on my service the result were 12.47mb download and 1.08 upload. So I called the Mediacom office here because of how slow the upload speed was. I was informed the package I had was 15mb download and 1mb upload so I upgraded to the 20mb download and 2mb upload package.

I redid the speed test and I'm not seeing any improvements in my internet speeds it's still 12-15mb download and 1-1.50 upload.  What's wrong?

Why is Medicom's upload speed so slow? I like online gaming and 1-2mb upload is way too slow. Are there any plans to increase the upload speeds here in my area?

When you say the upload speeds do you mean what we offer or what you are testing at? The upload speeds are pretty standard. 

I am concerned that you are not getting close to the full 20 on the download side.

I just moved to the area and the uploads are slower here then with my previous provider.

Upload speed offered and testing at are slower that another provider I had by almost by half. Unfortunately that provider isn't available where I live now.

I'm still have issues with slow internet speeds. Back when I made the 1st post an appointment was set up and a technician came and checked everything over but couldn't find any problem. The tech told me he was going to have his supervisor graph my modem and that it would take 7-10 days. I haven't heard anything and the speeds are still bad. I'm paying for 20mb download and 2mb upload.

Okay, I started at the head end and everything is passing. Utilization is currently @ 36% so that is outstanding. Pings to your modem are solid

Sending 10, 100-byte ICMP Echos to (IP edited out), timeout is 2 seconds:

Success rate is 100 percent (10/10), round-trip min/avg/max = 8/9/12 ms

So from the head end to your modem, things are rolling along smoothly.

Modem is provisioned properly, so no issue there.

So we would need to get a closer look and do some live troubleshooting. If you have a  second where I could call you we can make that happen now for you. Would that be okay?

Has there been an improvement with the speeds since the tech was out?

This service sucks!!! Is there a reason why I'm only getting 2-6mb download speeds right now. I'm paying for 20/2 and very very rarely do I see 20 mb it's usually around 13-15 and 1.5 is the best upload I've seen in 8 months of using this company. I've had the tech to my house several time and so no one has found the problem.  Cable Lines and modems have been changed still I get crappy service.

Is the Mediacom equipment in my area not capable of consistent speeds?

It looks like this is a possible utilization issue in your area. I am seeing that the last time you had a tech out was 12/8/11. I would like to get someone out to verify what I am seeing here.

Still slow today!!! This is ridiculous if this company can't give 20/2 service then they shouldn't sell the package. I'm getting the same service as I did with the 15/1 package but I'm paying $50 a month more.

I am escalating this to the area manager now to see what is going on.

I just got word we're moving your area to a new headend at the end of this month. We will keep an eye on the work being done here over the next few weeks.
