Mediacom blocking emails
« on: March 24, 2011, 09:25:02 PM »
I am trying to get emails from qso.net but it appears that mediacom feels necessary to block them

here is the info

his message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

 k0rfh@hotmail.com
SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM:<nobody@qsonet.net> SIZE=2016:
host mx1.hotmail.com [65.55.92.152]: 550 SC-001 Unfortunately, messages from 74.86.126.130 weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors.

------ This is a copy of the message, including all the headers. ------

Return-path: <nobody@qsonet.net>

I am the receiver, not the sender.  all info I have is included in the previous post.  It appears it is there if you look.

Maybe I am missing something. I am showing two emails in the block. One is hotmail and the other is qsonet.net email. Are you using this through outlook with Mediacom's incoming or outgoing server?

This is going to be unrelated. It has nothing to do with each other since these are completely separate systems. I am still not clear on what you are sending. If one email is the hotmail, what is the mediacom email you are using that isn't responding.

To go any further, I need the email address that is being sent from (the other user, not you) and your email. Are either of those emails mediacom email addresses?

As the error states

550 SC-001
Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation. If you are not an email/network admin please contact your Email/Internet Service Provider for help.

If the sender is QSO.net and the receiving end is Hotmail.com, and the emails are being rejected by Windows Live Hotmail, the block is going to come from the QSO.net domain. Since you are not passing through mediacom's email domain we would have no reason to block this. The IP isn't blacklisted and has been verified that we are able to send to other Hotmail domains on the network. The best option I would have for you from here would be reach out to QSO.net and make sure they are not blacklisted by Windows Live Hotmail.

Thanks,
Chris
