Why do I still have a dial tone after dialing, and don't hear the phone ringing?

There are generally two possible reasons for this. Either the phone currently in use is
incompatible with our service, or there is a problem with the phone wiring and the MTA is
not recognizing the tones that the phone is generating because of that problem. Try using a
different phone, and if that does not work, try plugging your phone directly into the MTA to
make a call. While Mediacom cannot repair your phone itself, we can fix problems with the
